Do you feel you’re scraping the bottom of the barrel for content marketing ideas? There’s no need to.
Your daily life, even parts of it that you may think are unrelated to your business, is the perfect source of ideas for your content marketing. Even better, it’s a source that produces more new stories every day.
When you have some interesting experience, there is usually a way to relate it to your business and aid you to make sales.
In this video, filmed at a Bonus day during the Titanium Mastermind in the Bahamas, Bill and Michelle Pescosolido give an example of a story from their daily life that they turned into content marketing.
A PERFECT MARKETING OPPORTUNITY
When they were in Cancun at the Diamond Mastermind, Bill and Michelle Pescosolido went flyboarding.
It should have been an immediately pleasant activity, but at least for Bill, it was not. Instead of hovering above the water, he fell flat on his face against the water several times.
One good thing came of it, however. He took this event and turned it into a metaphor for business. He filmed a video in which he talked about the obstacles and growing pains of building a business. He explained that if you keep going, you will eventually “hover above the water” in your business, but not without falling flat on your face several times.
Positive experiences are worth sharing too. You don’t have to be living your dream life yet to start sharing stories. Any positive experience, however small, is a marketing opportunity.
DON’T TAKE IT TOO FAR
Not every story from your daily life is suitable for content marketing.
If you attend the Super Bowl, that’s an interesting story. If you talk about being there with family and friends on the 20-yard line, what you did before the game and what you did after, people are going to be interested. That’s an extraordinary experience.
Watching the game on TV, on the other hand, is probably not worth sharing. Your followers don’t need to hear about you eating popcorn at home, because they probably did the same thing.
Remember, people follow you because they’re looking to change something in their life. Talk about extraordinary experiences that they would one day like to experience for themselves.
