Even if you think you have zero marketing skills, you still have a story.
Your story is your life experiences. Your life experiences are your knowledge, and your knowledge is your value.
Everyone has a story. If you’re only willing to tell and share yours, no matter how clueless you think you are about marketing and sales, your story will help you make sales.
In this video, filmed at a Bonus day during the Titanium Mastermind in the Bahamas, Bill and Michelle Pescosolido talk about how stories can help you sell.
EVERYONE HAS A STORY
You might think you have nothing to share. You have no marketing expertise, no value, no blog that’s been building readership for years.
What you do have is your story. It’s the most powerful thing in your repertoire. No one tells it better than you do, because you’ve lived it.
Think carefully about your story. Learn to understand it in and out, then learn to craft it in a way that’s memorable and shareable.
Finally, shout your story from the rooftops. Share it on your blog or website, on your Facebook and social media, in your emails, in your videos, on your webinars and when you speak to people face-to-face.
Some people will attach themselves to your story. They’ll relate to it and they’ll like and trust you because of it. These are the people who will become your future buyers.
FACTS TELL, STORIES SELL
Facts tell, but stories tell.
When you are writing any kind of copy, you will nearly always get a better response when you include one or more stories.
Imagine you’re selling something on eBay. If you throw up a few facts about your item, chances are that a week whill go buy and you’ll have no bidders. On the other hand, if you tell a story about that same item, don’t be surprised if the bidders compete to buy it at a premium price.
The top sales people are the ones who tell more stories during their sales calls, and that’s no accident. People connect with and attach themselves to stories in a way that makes them want to buy.
