At its peak, The Oprah Winfrey Show reached 44 million viewers each week.
But there’s something more impressive than the number. It’s the way that she could endorse someone else’s brand and it would seemingly turn to gold, attracting new fans and money. It became such a phenomenon that it was dubbed the “Oprah effect.”
Dr. Phil, Weight Watchers and even President Obama have all benefited from Oprah and her “effect.”

THE OPRAH EFFECT
When her talk show was at its peak, an endorsement from Oprah Winfrey was one of the most powerful endorsements a brand could get.
For example, have you heard of Dr. Phil, who is now worth hundreds of millions of dollars? His first TV appearance was on Oprah’s show.
Health expert Dr. Oz? Financial advisor Suze Orman? Lifestyle designer Nate Berkus? Exactly the same. They first appeared on Oprah before their own brands took off.
In 2015, Oprah bought a 10% stake in Weight Watchers, and its stock price immediately surged. In 2008, she campaigned for Barack Obama, who was subsequently elected the first African American President of the United States.

HOW I USED THE OPRAH EFFECT
Why does the “Oprah effect” work so well? It’s because Oprah is a trusted brand. Her fans reason, if Oprah’s endorsing someone, then they must be good. Her credibility transfers to her endorsee.
When I first started MOBE and no one knew who I was, I took advantage of the same principle.
Did I appear on Oprah’s show? Not exactly. But I associated with other well known and well respected brands in my industry. I went to an industry event in Las Vegas and got photos taken with all the industry leaders. Later on, I even spoke on stage for one of those industry leaders.
After that, everyone in the market suddenly knew who I was and wanted to do business with me. My business suddenly attracted new customers and sales. It’s exactly the same thing that happened with Dr. Phil after he associated with Oprah.
HOW YOU CAN DO IT
You can do the same. Find a well known and trusted brand in your industry and associate with that brand. Get interviewed, or receive an endorsement.
This is a shortcut to achieving powerful positioning in the marketplace. Suddenly, customers will come to chase you and you’ll no longer have to chase them.
