We’re nearly a week into the new year. Statistically speaking, a lot of people will have already given up on their New Year’s resolutions by now!
By the end of this year, nearly everyone who set a New Year’s resolution will have given up.
Don’t let this happen to you. Watch this video, filmed at the Titanium Mastermind in the Dominican Republic, and listen to Stephen Michael Miller’s tips for keeping your New Year’s resolution.
Whether your resolution is to get fit, to make $10,000 a month or to email your list every day, these tips will ensure you keep going until you reach your goal.
RESOLVING TO GET FIT
Stephen Michael Miller wanted to change the way he felt, physically. As someone who was building a multi million dollar organisation, speaking and traveling, he would often feel tired and drained.
He’d already tried nearly every diet, and had also watched his parents struggle through diets, only for nothing to work.
One New Year, he decided to put a stop to the struggle. He decided he would be willing to do something different, spend some money, spend some time and put his energy towards getting fit.
It’s easy to make the decision, but that means nothing unless you follow through and take the corresponding action.
That’s what Stephen did. He went and got a fitness coach and gym membership. He bought the right food. Most importantly, he got a daily plan and started implementing it.
CHANGING YOUR HABITS
The reason people fail their New Year’s resolutions is they don’t have a daily plan to follow. They decide they’re going to do something different and put it on their to do list for “later this week.” Then other commitments get in the way and “later this week” turns into “later this month” and “later this year.”
That’s no way to reach your goal. The only way to reach your goal is to revisit it daily, set a daily plan, commit to following it and change your daily habits in the process.
Stephen, with his fitness goal, started implementing a 90 day plan. While he implemented it, he noticed his habits started to change. He looked at his past failures and realised they were based on false beliefs. He’d believed that his parents were obese, so he was doomed to be obese too. They’d raised him on unhealthy foods, so he had to continue eating those foods.
As he continued implementing his fitness plan, he realised those past beliefs were not serving him. He chose to change his beliefs, which changed his daily habits permanently.
The only way to reach your goal is to change your habits, and the only way to change your habits is to revisit and take action towards your goal every single day.
