Ken McArthur came up with something he calls McArthur’s Law:
“You make a difference, whether you want to or not.”
Think about the people who have had the biggest impact on your life. In many cases, they may not even know how much they impacted you. They didn’t necessarily set out to change your life, but sometimes, that’s the effect they have.
You too will have an impact on thousands of people, and most of the time you won’t even know it. Ken talks more about this phenomenon in this video, filmed at the Titanium Mastermind in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
THE COMMON THREAD?
Ken McArthur has asked many different people this same question. Who is the person who has had the biggest impact in their life?
He’s gotten all kinds of answers. It might be a teacher, a parent, a friend or a bum off the street who they never saw again.
But there was a common thread between all of the answers Ken received. In almost every case, the impact the person had on them was the same thing. It came in the form of a simple kind word at the time when they needed it the most. It was an encouragement when they really needed it.
YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT IMPACT YOU’VE HAD
One of the people Ken asked had been a teenage mom. She had been 16 and pregnant and didn’t know what to do. 23 years later, she had just celebrated her daughter graduating from college.
The person who had the biggest impact on her life had told her all those years ago, “you can get through this.” They probably didn’t remember it at all and didn’t think about it much.
You’ve already had an impact on thousands of people and you don’t even know it.
