WHY YOU MUST TARGET A HUNGRY MARKET
Who would you rather sell to? Someone who is blissfully unaware they have the problem that your product or service solves? Or, someone who knows and experiences the problem every day and is desperately searching for a solution?
If you can find customers who are hungry for your product or service, you are going to have a much easier time selling to them. In fact, they are nearly already sold before they encounter you.
GET CLEAR ON YOUR CUSTOMER
Before you can find a hungry market, you need to know what you’re looking for. It’s worth taking the time to get clear on your ideal customer.
What are the 3 most painful things in their life? What are the 3 things they are afraid of? It’s these pains and fears that create the hunger in the market for the solution you offer.
What are their 3 skepticisms and objections to buying? People forget to answer this question, because the skepticisms and objections are often unvoiced. Your customers won’t tell you, but you need to be prepared for them.
Finally, what are their alternatives to buying? What will they continue to do if they choose not to do business with you? Will they solve their problem or will it linger?
The best marketers and sales people know that it’s not the desires and wants that motivate a customer to buy. It’s their pain points and fears.
Once you are in tune with these pains and fears, and you’re able to craft your marketing around them, your customer will come to believe that your product can solve their problem. That’s when you’re on your way to a sale.
