At some point in your business, you should seriously consider writing a book.
Being the author of a book can do wonders for your marketing. It positions you as an expert and a leader, it adds credibility to everything you say and it elevates you above your competition.
Of course, you probably don’t want to spend months at your desk writing a book. You’re too busy running your business, right?
Then watch this video, filmed at the Diamond Mastermind in Bali, Indonesia, with Marcin Marczak. His ingenious trick can turn you into a book author in 2–3 days.
HOW MARCIN WROTE HIS BOOK
Marcin Marczak was an attendee at the MOBE Titanium Mastermind in Phuket. He took 45 pages of notes while he listened to the various speakers.
If you’ve attended a MOBE mastermind or other industry event, you most probably took notes as well. Maybe not 45 pages, but possibly 10–20 pages.
After arriving home again, Marcin spent 2 hours categorizing and cleaning up his notes and putting them into a Word document. Then, he spent some time polishing those notes into an ebook, which he named 59 Secrets We Learnt from 9 Internet Millionaires at Phuket Mastermind.
Within 2–3 days, he and his wife were the authors of a book.
HOW TO USE THIS TECHNIQUE
You too can write a book using the content you already have. Repurpose the notes you’ve taken from listening to speakers and trainers, and turn it into a book that you give away for free.
If you’re worried about plagiarism, don’t be. Give credit where it’s due. Make it clear that you were attending an event and discuss what you learned from the trainer or mentor. Don’t just repeat what they said and take credit for it.
Outsource the more technical aspects of the process. Marcin had an assistant do the formatting and editing for $10. He paid $15 to a designer in Pakistan to design the cover image.
He added pictures that he’d taken at the event, and weaved in calls to action throughout the book. The end product was 35 pages long, which is enough for a book that you give away for free as a lead magnet. People have short attention spans online, so shorter is better.
There’s nothing stopping you from doing the same. It’s a lot better than letting your notes gather dust.
