If you’re not buying traffic, it’s probably for one of two reasons. Either you lack the knowledge or you’re afraid to lose money.
It’s true that if you don’t know what you’re doing, you can lose money very quickly. Paid traffic is just like the stock market in that respect.
The biggest risk is spending money to put your ad in front of people who are just not interested in what you’re selling.

WHAT IS A FACEBOOK CUSTOM AUDIENCE?
A custom audience is either a list of phone numbers or email addresses that you provide to Facebook. Because all Facebook users need to provide their own phone number and email address to register a Facebook profile, Facebook will be able to track down all of the people on your list.
When you register a custom audience, you can then place ads on Facebook and have them show to only the people on that list.
Why is this so powerful? Because someone who’s already interacted with your marketing in some way is one of the most targeted prospects you can get. They’ve demonstrated an interest and you’re not just guessing that they might be interested.
If you’ve been building your list, you will have no trouble creating a custom audience. Then, you can use Facebook to market to those who already know and trust you, instead of cold prospects who don’t convert.
HOW TO MAKE A CUSTOM AUDIENCE
To make a custom audience, first get your list of existing clients. Make sure you have either the phone numbers or email addresses in a spreadsheet.
Head over to Facebook and go to the Power Editor. Click on Audiences, click on Custom Audience and then you just need to fill in the fields. Choose a name, put in a description and upload your spreadsheet.
Facebook will go and track down all the people on your list, assuming they are using the same contact information to register with Facebook, which many of them will be. Depending on the size of your list, this should not take too long.
When your custom audience is ready, you can create a Facebook ad campaign as normal, and select your custom audience in the targeting options.
