From the Caribbean islands to Cancun to Las Vegas to London—we host MOBE events at some of the most beautiful locations in the world.
I don’t simply select a location based on hearsay or what has traditionally been considered to be a beautiful place to visit. Instead, I make sure that a location fits certain requirements to stage a worthwhile event.
The Selection Process
Before deciding upon a potential resort to host a Mastermind event, I visit the location to get a first-hand experience of the place and check if it fits our purposes. Getting a good feel of the place before booking it helps avoid any possible problems that might come up during event time.
Some of the things I check before deciding on a location are:
- Quality of service
- Quality of food
- Overall quality of the rooms and accommodations
If you’re hosting an event for your business, even if it’s just a one-day seminar, you have to be sure that you’re making the right choice. Remember, any event or program that you host will be a reflection of your brand.
Imagine you attend a wedding and it’s hosted at an unwelcoming reception venue or there is a shortage of food. You’ll most likely have bad memories of the event, and other guests would be quick to bad-mouth the entire gathering. Don’t leave any room for bad publicity for your event and make sure that the place and program are prepared for anything that could happen.
What’s The Point?
If you’re looking to host events for your business, or are just curious to find out how luxurious locations can be more appealing for training events and seminars, consider the following advantages below:
1. It’s Enjoyable
Firstly, it’s important to remember that the luxuries of a resort should be used for you and your attendees to enjoy. If you host an event at a grim office or conference hall, people will feel like they’re going to “work,” which hardly encourages learning, let alone enjoyment.
Masterminds are not only about training, learning, and networking; they’re about having fun and remembering the event for all the right reasons. Renting a good resort will encourage all of these things and more.
2. You Immerse Yourself
Hosting a Mastermind event in a wonderful location for two or three nights allows attendees to immerse themselves in the entire event, which is crucial for learning purposes.
When you’re at an event and the location is relaxing, you’ll get much more value for the time you spend there since you’ll be staying with people with the same positive feeling and you’ll be able to collaborate with them easily.
Rubbing shoulders with like-minded individuals at the hotel bar or bumping into a guest speaker in the lobby opens up plenty of opportunities for you to converse and network with people who can help you with your business and self-development.
An article from Business Insider explains how events can create a favorable networking environment: “If you go to the right events, it’s full of people that you can work with or learn from in some way … What’s better is that face-to-face networking events create lasting impressions in the minds of people you meet.” Our Mastermind events do just that—provide an exotic location with plenty of networking opportunities.
3. Traveling Is Healthy
Let’s say you attended an event at a standard city hotel. You would spend two or three hours each evening there before driving back to your house and then doing the same thing again for the following two days. Sounds a bit tedious and stressful, right?
Now, compare that to packing your summer clothes and heading off for three nights at a luxury resort, sipping on a cold drink, basking in the sunshine, and reaping all the educational rewards that a MOBE Mastermind event has to offer. You’ll surely feel like a winner!
One of the major benefits of staying at a resort for a few nights is that it creates a more focused mindset compared to going to a standard hotel’s conference room each day. The former will feel like a vacation and most certainly release endorphins that will put a smile on your face and condition you to want to learn.
When you have to commute each day for an event, you’ll end up fatigued, agitated, and demotivated. Subsequently, you won’t really get the value for what you paid.
I no longer travel to evaluate locations before hosting our events. It’s not because I don’t find it important, but because I don’t have the time to do it anymore since MOBE has grown significantly in the past couple of years.
As your company scales up, you might not have the luxury to travel and vet to each destination as much as you would like to. Make sure you have a trusted team member or employee who can carry out the required task in assessing locations to see if it’s up to standards for your business events.
