Not every new business owner starts their business on an equal footing.
Some enter into their new venture with an open mind and ready to take action. Others bring their “emotional baggage” from past failed businesses or life experiences, and it weighs them down and slows down their success.
If you have “emotional baggage,” the best thing you can do for your business is to let go of it and recalibrate yourself.
In this video, filmed at the Platinum Mastermind in Fiji, Nik Halik talks about how to do this.
LET GO OF THE RESENTMENT BALLOONS
Some people are always carrying emotional baggage, and you can tell from their actions.
For example, they get divorced and remarried, take the same emotional baggage into their next marriage and get divorced again. Despite their efforts they think will move them towards a better life, nothing changes.
You might think you’re through with your past, but is your past through with you?
Most people hold resentment for individuals who they think have wronged them, but as long as they hold onto these emotions, they are only weighing themselves down.
Think of everything and everyone you hold resentment towards as a balloon you’re holding on to. What you need to do is let go of the balloons, lighten the load and eliminate the emotional baggage.
If it can’t serve as fuel for the journey you’re on, jettison it out.
Forgive those who wronged you, let go of the past and eliminate the emotional hurdles from your future. Recalibrate yourself and enjoy the moment.
If they really and truly wronged you, the balance will be restored in some way and they will get what they deserve. It’s not your responsibility to continue resenting them and weighing yourself down.
Even if your emotional baggage stems from the negativity of your spouse or partner, your family members or your friends, don’t feel you have an obligation to give in to their negativity. Your life is the most important, so make it count. It moves fast and you’ll miss it if you stay stuck in the past.
