Entrepreneurism is a way of life. It means embracing challenges, stretching yourself and acting in spite of fear.
If you’re not getting the results you want, it may be because you’ve not yet fully committed to the entrepreneur’s way of life.
Watch this video, filmed at the Traffic Summit during the Titanium Mastermind in the Dominican Republic to hear Norbert Orlewicz list out 8 mindset commitments for entrepreneurs. Ask yourself whether you’ve committed to each one. If not, make the commitment and watch your results change.
1. STRETCH YOURSELF
In entrepreneurism, you grow when you get out of your comfort zone and you stretch yourself.
It’s the same as with athletics and sports. Weight lifting tears your muscles and they grow back bigger than before. Athletes push and stretch themselves to break through barriers and achieve new goals.
Decide that whenever there’s something you’ve never done before, you’ll get out of your comfort zone and do it.
2. FAIL FORWARD
Entrepreneurs fail their way forward. Don’t think of failure as the end. Think of it as another hurdle on the road to success.
Thomas Edison made many mistakes before he finally invented the light bulb. The mistakes helped him to learn and slowly get closer to success.
Ask any successful entrepreneur and they’ll tell you they’ve made more mistakes than they can count. Promise yourself that you’ll embrace failure because it’s something you can learn from.
3. NETWORK WITH THE BEST
Remember to network with other business people. Norbert Orlewicz built a company with a partner who he met at an event over drinks. The company went on to generate millions, but it would have never happened without the partnership.
You have no idea who you could be sitting next to at a business event, and who you’ll meet over drinks or dinner.
Don’t stay in the comfortable position of keeping to yourself. Stretch yourself, get uncomfortable and commit to networking and meeting people.
4. HAVE A LONG TERM VISION
Have a long term vision and plan for your business.
As a trainer, Norbert Orlewicz has often had to correct people’s expectations. They were hoping to get rich quick, but if that’s your expectation, you will fail.
Any entrepreneur who reaches genuine success has a long term attitude, a vision and a plan. None of them had the expectation of getting rich quick.
5. BE CONSISTENT AND PERSISTENT
Be consistent in your activities and persistent in spite of failure. There will always be challenges, but that doesn’t mean you have to let the challenges stop you or slow you down.
6. ASK QUALITY QUESTIONS
Have you ever noticed that if you ask a weak question, you get a weak answer? And if you ask a detailed question, you get a detailed answer?
The quality of your questions determine the quality of the answers you’ll get. Commit to developing the skill of asking quality questions.
7. EMBRACE YOUR MISTAKES
Embrace your mistakes as lessons. Any time you make a mistake, there’s always something you can learn from it and put to use in your future attempts. There’s no reason to be ashamed of making mistakes. Mistakes move you closer to success.
8. BE VULNERABLE
Be willing to put yourself at risk.
Those who play it safe will forever wonder “what if?” Those who are willing to step into the dark and the unknown may face some big challenges and setbacks, but they’ll at least be able to say they tried. At most, they’ll achieve their greatest goals and dreams.
